Pan Perdu
Overnight French Toast Casserole
Ingredients:
4 tbsp butter, room temperature
12 slices Brioche
4 large eggs
2 cups half & half
1 ½ tsp vanilla or almond extract
1 ½ tsp cinnamon
¾ cup sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
Instructions:
Spread butter over bottom of 9 x 13 casserole dish. Arrange bread slices in the pan.
Combine eggs, half & half, vanilla, cinnamon, and both sugars in large bowl; whisk until well blended. Pour egg mixture over bread. Turn bread slices to coat evenly. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a few hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 400 F. Bake for 10 minutes. Turn the bread over and continue baking just until a rich golden brown, about 5 to 6 minutes longer. Transfer cooked French toast to plates and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar if desired. Top with roasted almonds or pecans and serve with whipped cream.
